This represents a 10.73% quarterly growth, with external debt at N38.22 trillion and domestic debt at N59.12 trillion. The share of external debt to total public debt was 39.26% in Q4 2023, while domestic debt was 60.74%. Lagos State had the highest domestic debt at N1.05 trillion, and the highest external debt at 1.24 billion dollars, while Jigawa had the lowest domestic debt at N42.76 billion and Borno had the lowest external debt at 20.49 million dollars.

The International Crops Research Institute for Semi-arid Tropics (ICRISAT) emphasized the importance of producing and standardizing millets across Nigeria. The Country Representative, ICRISAT, spoke at a workshop on micronutrient standards for millet varieties in Nigeria, highlighting the significance of millets for sustaining humanity during climate change. Pearl millet and finger millet are the two major types cultivated in Nigeria, with pearl millet being the most widely grown variety, especially in the northern states. The Director General of HarvestPlus Nigeria noted the organization's efforts in developing biofortified millets rich in zinc and iron, and stressed the need for increased standardization in production. The Chairman of the Technical Sub-committee Crops emphasized the importance of breeding pearl millet to produce high levels of iron and zinc to promote food security in Nigeria.

The Traditional Religion Worshippers’ Association has called on the Federal and State Governments to establish schools where traditional religious knowledge can be taught as a subject in order to educate the younger generation about Yoruba culture and tradition. The association's Secretary in Oyo State, Fayemi Fakayode, emphasized the importance of including traditional religious knowledge in the primary and secondary school curricula to disabuse the minds of the younger generation about Yoruba history and antecedents. Fakayode stressed the need for proper education to counter miseducation about African origin and culture, which has led to wrong perceptions about traditional religion. The association also urged traditionalists to make efforts to establish this subject in primary and secondary schools, while seeking support from the government for its inclusion in the school’s syllabus and curriculum. The aim is to prevent children and grandchildren from being taught about their own religion, culture, tradition, and history by foreigners and those from other religions, who may present the religion in a negative light.
