Hainan Free Trade Port Singapore Promotion Event Successfully Held

On November 23, the Hainan Free Trade Port promotion event, themed “Close Singapore – Hainan Cooperation to Share in Free Trade Port Opportunities” was held in Singapore. The policy advantages and construction achievements of the Hainan Free Trade Port were comprehensively introduced to the participating guests to deepen economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between Hainan and Singapore.

The event gathered nearly 500 participants, including Low Yen Ling, Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Community, Culture and Youth; Zhu Jing, Charge d’Affaires of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Singapore; Tan Zhiyong, Chairman of Chinese Enterprises Association （Singapore）； Wu Duoshen, Chairman of Singapore-China Business Association; Chen Zhanpeng, Chairman of Singapore Manufacturing Federation; and representatives of well-known Singapore enterprises, representatives of business associations, and media journalists.

The exchanges between China and Singapore boast a time-honored history. Hainan has maintained good economic and trade cooperation and communication with Singapore for a long time and is accelerating the construction of a free trade port with Chinese characteristics and global influence. Organized by the Hainan Provincial Department of Commerce and Hainan Provincial Bureau of International Economic Development, this promotion event enhanced the understanding of all parties in Singapore on the Hainan Free Trade Port, and promoted the mutual complementarity, opportunities sharing, and win-win benefits between Singapore and Hainan.

During the event, the Hainan International Economic Development Bureau, Hainan Department of Industry and Information Technology, and Hainan Financial Supervisory Bureau conducted thematic presentations on the policies and business environment, industrial investment opportunities, financial industry cooperation and other aspects of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

Lim Hong Kian, CEO of Surbana Jurong Group North Asia Division, Pua Seck Guan, COO and executive director of Wilmar International and executive chairman and CEO of Perennial Group, and Lin Guangming, chief planner of Yangpu Economic Development Zone Management Committee, representing well-known Singaporean businesses, Singaporean companies investing in Hainan, and Singaporean talents employed in Hainan respectively, each shared their experience of development and cooperation insights with Hainan.

The event also witnessed the signing of agreements on five key cooperation projects covering areas such as finance, trade, and services, aiming to facilitate the high-quality development of the Hainan Free Trade Port and deepen the bilateral partnership.

Participants expressed that the event enabled them to gain a more direct and in-depth understanding of the Hainan Free Trade Port and to sense the sincerity and determination in the comprehensive deepening of reform and opening-up in the Hainan Free Trade Port. The prospects for cooperation between Hainan and Singapore are broad, and they share great anticipation for the open development of Hainan and the win-win cooperation between China and Singapore.
