华人号:NIGERIA CHINA TIMESTo celebrate the upcoming "International Tea Day" (May 21st ) and promote the globally renowned Chinese tea culture, the "Tea for Harmony Yaji Cultural Salon", jointly hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, and co-organized by the China International Culture Association, Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and China Cultural Center in Nigeria (CCCNIG), kicked off on May 18th at CCCNIG.

The event showcased meticulously crafted tea sets, lifelike auspicious rabbits and pandas, and exquisite cultural products. The ongoing “Sichuan: Home of Panda and Tea” themed photo exhibition offered the guests a captivating and enriching experience.

The salon featured a vibrant display of traditional Nigerian tribal dances as well as elegant and extraordinary tea art performances. Guests were delighted in watching these performances while savoring the rich flavors of various types of famous Chinese teas. Both the poetry reading “Savoring Tea, Exploring China” by Chen Huiling and Rabi Zubairu, and the presentation “An Overview of Chinese Tea Culture” by Deng Jun, vividly explained the origin and history of tea, the types of Chinese tea, and the profound Chinese tea culture, offering the guests a higher level of cultural immersion in the world of Chinese tea.

Over a hundred guests attended the event, including Mrs. Rose Kwarsen (Director of Cultural Industries & Heritage, Ministry of Information and Culture), Mr. Mohammed Sulaiman (President of Society of Nigerian Artists), Mr. Emmanuel Okon, President of Youth Tourism Development Organization), Ms. Yan Ni (Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department of National Radio and Television Administration of China), Madam Liang Huili (wife of the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria), representatives from diplomatic corps, etc...

During a joint interview with Nigerian media after the event, Mr. Li Xuda (Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria and Director of CCCNIG) said, “Tea originated in China, and Chinese tea have bean traded worldwide. Chinese tea culture has a profound heritage and embodies the spirit of harmony. The purpose of organizing this event is to greet the world with tea and enhance friendship between each other.”
