Art Exhibition Celebrates Sino-Nigerian Friendship at China Cultural Center in Nigeria

On 28^th May 2024, The Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, in collaboration with China Alumni Association of Nigeria, hosted an extraordinary art exhibition titled "Expression of Friendship: Expression of China through the Eyes of Nigerian Artists." This exhibition, which underscores the deepening cultural ties between China and Nigeria, showcased the unique perspectives of Nigerian artists on Chinese culture.

The event commenced with the national anthems of both Nigeria and China, setting a tone of mutual respect and shared cultural values. Mr. Suleiman Mohammad, President of the Society of Nigerian Artists and China Alumni Association, delivered a warm welcome address. He emphasized the significance of art in fostering enduring friendships and cultural exchanges between the two nations.

Cultural Counsellor and Director of CCCNIG, Mr. Li Xuda, provided the opening remarks, highlighting the collaborative spirit and cultural symbiosis embodied in the exhibition. In his remarks he stated that “Art and culture are essential for national development and social progress, with both China and Nigeria having rich cultural histories. Nigeria, known for its talented artists, is often called the cradle of African civilization. To enhance cultural exchange and mutual understanding, the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria and China Alumni Association of Nigeria present the "Expression of Friendship" Art Exhibition. This event showcases Chinese culture through Nigerian artists' eyes, offering a platform for visitors to engage with and appreciate Nigerian art and culture”

Mr. Hilary, former Director of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), delivered a heartfelt goodwill message, reflecting on the longstanding cultural ties between China and Nigeria.

Mrs. Rose Kwarsen, former Director at the former Federal Ministry of Information and Culture,also extended her goodwill message, commending the initiative for creating a platform that promotes artistic dialogue and cultural understanding. Mr. Emma Silva and Dr. Ben-ugu Anamah followed with their own goodwill messages, each underscoring the importance of such events in strengthening international friendships through art.

The highlight of the evening was a captivating musical performance by Mr. Age Beeka, which added a melodious layer to the celebration of cultural exchange. The exhibition, featuring a diverse array of artworks, offered attendees a visual feast and a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture through the creative lenses of Nigerian artists.

The event concluded with closing remarks that encapsulated the day's themes of friendship and artistic collaboration. The "Expression of Friendship" Art Exhibition not only celebrated the cultural bonds between China and Nigeria but also exemplified the power of art in bridging diverse cultures and fostering mutual respect.

This memorable event at CCCNIG stands as a testament to the vibrant cultural diplomacy between the two nations, promoting understanding and appreciation through the universal language of art.
