On June 29, the BRICS High-level Forum on Sustainable Development opened in Fuzhou. Zhao Long, governor, Zhao Chenxin, deputy director and secretary general of the National Development and Reform Commission, Lin Baojin, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and secretary of the Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee, attended and delivered speeches; representatives of Brazilian, Russian, Indian and South African government departments delivered video speeches; Guo Ningning, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and executive vice governor; leaders of Fuzhou and Fuzhou New District, such as Wu Xiande, Zhong Zhang, Liu Zhuoqun, Lin Jian and Lin Fei, attended the forum.

Entrusted by Yin Li, secretary of the provincial Party committee, Zhao Long, on behalf of the provincial Party committee and government, congratulated the opening of the forum and welcomed the guests. He said that General Secretary Xi Jinping has always attached great importance to sustainable development. During his work in Fujian, he put forward a new concept of sustainable development in a forward-looking way, took the lead in building an ecological province and "digital Fujian" in the country, and vigorously advocated and practiced the poverty alleviation and development spirit of "constant dropping wears the stone" and "the slow need to start early", creating valuable ideological wealth, spiritual wealth and practical achievements. Fujian will thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important exposition on sustainable development, adhere to the BRICS spirit of openness, tolerance, cooperation and win-win, deepen exchanges and enhance cooperation under the BRICS framework, jointly shape the future of BRICS value chain, and jointly open up a brand-new road of sustainable development. We will give full play to the advantages of the first national ecological civilization pilot zone, deepen exchanges and cooperation in clean energy, low-carbon technologies and other fields, and join hands with you to build a clean and beautiful world; Give full play of the advantages for the Digital China Construction Summit; promote the interconnection of the digital age; and work with you of bridge the digital divide. Give full play to the role of the BRICS New Industrial Revolution Partnership Innovation Base, deeply integrate into the "the belt and road initiative", and work with everyone to maintain the security and stability of the industrial chain supply chain; Adhere to the "BRICS+" cooperation concept, work hard to solve major problems such as natural disasters, climate change, food and energy security, epidemic prevention and control, and join hands with all of you to meet global challenges and contribute to the construction of Community of Shared Future for Mankind.

Zhao Chenxi said in his speech that this forum is an important activity in the BRICS professional field, which is of great significance to the implementation of global development initiatives and global security initiatives, the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the promotion of building a global development community. Over the past five years, China has taken solid actions to help improve the BRICS cooperation mechanism and promote BRICS cooperation to achieve outstanding results. In the next five years, we will strengthen our confidence, strengthen unity, persist in opening up and innovation, work together to promote economic recovery, persist in innovation-driven, work together to achieve leap-forward development, improve environmental governance, work together to build a community between man and nature, adhere to the supremacy of the people, work together to improve people's livelihood and well-being, and push BRICS pragmatic cooperation to a higher quality.

Lin Baojin said in his speech that Fuzhou is an important breeding ground and practice place for Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. In recent years, we have always adhered to the important ideas and major practices initiated by General Secretary Xi Jinping, implemented the new development ideas completely, accurately and comprehensively, and unswervingly followed the road of sustainable development. Fuzhou will actively serve and integrate into the "BRICS+" cooperation, and dig deep into the cooperation space and share the development dividend in the fields of digital transformation, interconnection of industrial chain and supply chain, green and low-carbon development, and the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic. I look forward to learning from this high-level forum, establishing friendly and cooperative relations with more cities in BRICS countries and emerging market countries, and contributing to Fuzhou's efforts to achieve open integration and promote global sustainable development.

Foreign delegates said that in the face of global challenges such as epidemic situation and climate change, BRICS countries should deepen communication, promote cooperation in areas such as anti-epidemic and health, interconnection of industrial chains and supply chains, digital economy, green and low carbon, and jointly promote the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to achieve stronger, greener and healthier global development.

The BRICS High-level Forum on Sustainable Development was held in Fuzhou from June 29 to 30 in an online and offline way. The main forum, parallel sub-forums and industry matchmaking meetings were set up, aiming to further consolidate the BRICS consensus and promote a greener, healthier, safer and more sustainable global development. Representatives of BRICS government departments, enterprises, universities, financial institutions and international organizations attended the event.
