Fuzhou Intelligence Tops in the World The Delivery of Two Leading Large Tuna Purse Seine Ships

On March 3, Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Mawei Shipbuilding), located in CuluIsland, Lianjiang, delivered two 76m large tuna purse seine vessels (MW820-1/2) to help China’soffshore fishery move towards intelligence and greening.

It is reported that the ship has a total length of 76.73 meters, a width of 13.50 meters, a depth of 7.70 meters, and a fish tank volume of about 1,880 cubic meters. It has an excellent hull linear design and can sail in the central and western Pacific regions. It is worth mentioning that the ship is equipped with advanced equipment such as helicopter platform, Doppler sonar, new S-band seabird radar, solar radio buoy, new environmental protection refrigerant, color fish detector, fishery remote sensing system, etc., and has strong fish search and positioning capabilities, which can realize accurate and intelligent fishing operations, and its comprehensive performance has reached the international leading level.

Mawei Shipbuilding has been deeply involved in the design and construction of large tuna purse seine ships for many years and has successfully delivered 11 ships of the same type. In the process of building these two new ships, the project team has successively overcome many key technologies such as dock layout, short barge transportation, ship reinforcement and stability. This ship won the first prize of the “Five Small” Innovation Competition for Millions of Workers in Fujian Province in 2023 and the third prize of the Fujian Science and Technology Progress Award in 2023.
