Every time I visit a new place, I look forward to exploring its local museums. Residing in Columbia, South Carolina, a small city in the southeastern United States, I’m always excited by the Columbia Museum of Art’s unique appeal. Discovering Chinese antiquities here, so far from their origins, feels thrilling and surreal.

走进哥伦比亚艺术博物馆二楼的馆藏展厅，丰富的艺术藏品瞬间吸引了我的注意。尤其是穿插其中的来自中国的文物，让我顿时兴奋起来。那些跨越千年的造像、绚丽的瓷器，以及形态生动的雕塑，向人们讲述着中国悠久而灿烂的文明。

Upon entering the second-floor galleries, I was immediately drawn to the museum’s diverse collection. The Chinese artifacts interspersed throughout the exhibits filled me with enthusiasm. These ancient ceramics, brilliant porcelain pieces, and lifelike sculptures reveal the depth and beauty of Chinese civilization, stretching back thousands of years.

The craftsmanship is exceptional, with smooth and delicate lines that imbue Guanyin’s figure with an even greater sense of benevolence.

Standing before these precious artifacts, I can’t help but marvel at the rare opportunity to experience such ancient Chinese art in a small city in the southeastern United States.

As a visitor from China, seeing these artifacts evokes a special feeling. I hope they continue to be well-protected and that more in-depth research is conducted on them. Additionally, I look forward to seeing experts from China take an interest in Chinese artifacts housed in museums across the U.S., systematically cataloging and studying them. A comprehensive understanding of these dispersed artifacts would be invaluable, as they are not only witnesses of history but also form a cultural lineage for the Chinese people around the world, carrying immense research significance.

In my view, Chinese civilization is an integral part of world civilization. Ancient Chinese artifacts, along with cultural heritage from around the globe—whether ancient or modern—have merged to form a cohesive whole, complementing each other beautifully. Exhibitions like this add to the Columbia Museum of Art’s value, making a visit there a cross-cultural experience that immerses us in a more colorful and expansive stream of history.
