What is a high-quality life? The senior citizen who live in Fuzhou may give such an answer: no nannies, don't have to make meals by themselves; go to a class to play some musical instruments and learn English in spare time; dancing in the park, swimming and exercising every day ...

In order to implement the important requirement of "achieving a greater breakthrough in creating a high-quality life" put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection in Fujian last March, the Civil Affairs Bureau listed the construction of the canteen for the elderly as the annual key task of the headquarters of the aged care service project in warm Fuzhou home community, and made every effort to build a catering service system for the elderly with Fuzhou characteristics to solve the most realistic and urgent problem of "warm meal" for the elderly.

At present, there are 133 elderly canteens in Fuzhou, of which 89 have been added since March last year, which has tripled in one year.

According to the plan, 70 elderly canteens will be added in Fuzhou this year to achieve full coverage of streets (towns and villages) and better meet the needs of the elderly for nearby, convenient and high-quality catering services. Recently, the number of canteens for the elderly in Gulou District has increased from 20 to 30, achieving full coverage of ten streets and towns, completing the annual task ahead of schedule.

What's a high-quality life like? These senior citizen tell you

“Thanks a lot!” At noon on March 10, in the canteen of the elderly in Antai Street, Daoshan Road, Mr. Zhao, 68, showed the staff English he had just learned from the university for the elderly after buying the food. Later, he took out his mobile phone and took photos for lunch to share with his family and friends.

Every Monday to Saturday morning, Mr. Zhao goes to the city university for senior citizens for classes. He enrolled in four courses, including oral English, electronic piano and cooking.

Mr. Zhao said that he used to go to the supermarket to buy food every day. After class, he hurried home to cook. Sometimes when he was too tired, he ate quick-frozen dumplings.

After the opening of the canteen for the elderly, his quality of life has been greatly improved: after class in the morning, he can have a warm meal in the canteen. One meat, two vegetables, one soup and rice only cost RMB 10; after meal, he can chat with friends, then go home and take a nap; go swimming and exercise in the afternoon, and practice cooking in his spare time.

The elderly canteen also has a smart platform, and the elderly with inconvenience can order food at home through WeChat group or by a call, so that the staff can deliver food to them.

There is no need to cook. Senior citizens have more time for fitness.

"There are 35 day care beds here. Senior citizen can stay for lunch break after lunch. After waking up, they can draw, read and chat in the activity room, and then go home." Xie Muzhu, director of Antai Street Comprehensive Technical Support Center, introduced that the canteen for the elderly in Antai Street not only sets a "dining table" for the elderly, but also provides a "studying desk".

From the schedule at the door, we can see that there are different activities from Monday to Friday except for meal time. Senior citizen can learn finger exercises, take music lessons, listen to health lectures, play Tai Ji and do handicrafts here.

According to reports, the Union University for the Aged in Gulou District has launched the "School+ Canteen" meal-study service, and realized the free switching of "dining table" and "studying desk" through the time shift management. "After the dining table is removed, here is a multi-function hall." Xie Muzhu introduced that the canteen for the elderly not only provides dining services, but also offers related courses, so as to solve the problem of dining for the elderly, at the same time, let them have a sense of well-being and happiness, and meet their spiritual and cultural needs.

"This model enables the elderly to study and play with their friends, and they are no longer lonely." Mao Qing, head of professional operation organization of Antai Street Care Center, said.

The reporter learned from the Civil Affairs Bureau that all districts and counties in our city have set up canteens for the elderly, and gradually formed a canteen model for the elderly with Fuzhou characteristics. For example, the canteen for the elderly near Jin'an District (Xiangyuan Store) adopts the mode of "central kitchen+ community delivery", and introduces full-time meal-helping service, so that the elderly can enjoy three meals a day at home sent by volunteers; Canteen for the elderly in Jiangyin, Fuqing raises funds through various channels, and the elderly over 60 years old in the village can have lunch and dinner with only RMB 5.

"We have lived a 'dream life'." 80-year-old citizen Mr. Xu said.
