Mabi Town, Lianjiang County is the township with the largest tidal flat area in Fuzhou. At present, it has become a “bird paradise”, attracting rare birds such as curly-feathered pelicans and black-faced spoonbills.

Mabi Town is surrounded by mountains and seas, adjacent to Luoyuan Bay, with a tidal flat area of 75,110 mu. Recently, the reporter saw in the coastal wetland of Mabi Town that the national key protected animals such as curly-feathered pelicans, black-faced spoonbills, white spoonbills and white-waisted curlews rested and foraged here.

“A few days ago, we found more than 20 curly-feathered pelicans here.” Bird watching enthusiast Lin Changluo told reporters.

The reporter learned from the Mabi Town Government that since 2018, more than 7,000 mu of Spartina alterniflora has been cleared, 1,820 mu of mangroves have been planted, and a three-dimensional aquatic agriculture, forestry and pasture of “planting mangroves on the beach, cultivating shellfish and crabs on the beach surface and cultivating benthic fish under the beach” has been explored to create a “bird paradise” (Reporter Zheng Ruiyang and correspondent Lianrong Media)
