The event was hosted in part by the American-Turkish Association and the Town of Cary, and it drew a large crowd excited to honor children from around the world.

Visitors enjoyed a variety of activities, from colorful stage performances to interactive booths and delicious international treats. It was a festive day full of smiles and celebration, all in honor of children.

What is Children’s Day?
Children’s Day is a national holiday in Turkey, celebrated on April 23. Over the years, it has grown into a global celebration, welcoming children of all cultures and backgrounds.
This year’s event in Cary reflected that spirit—bringing together families, performers, and volunteers to celebrate the joy and promise of childhood.

From 1 to 7 p.m., children performed songs, dances, and musical recitals at the pavilion in Cary Downtown Park, each receiving a small medal to celebrate their efforts. One young performer, who played the guqin(古筝), shared that she was proud and happy to take part. Nearby, the fountain area featured interactive stalls with games, food, and kids’ books, creating a festive and family-friendly atmosphere.
