State-level ICH Dance Appeared in the 12th “March 3” She Culture Week in Fujian Province

On the morning of March 30, the demonstration block of national unity and progress in Shangxiahang, Taijiang District, Fuzhou was melodious, and the activities of Taijiang Branch of the 12th “March 3” She Culture Week of China and Fujian Province were held here. At the event site, the wonderful performance of the national intangible cultural heritage became a highlight, showing the compatriots on both sides of the strait the profound heritage of Chinese traditional ritual and music culture.

In the solemn music, the performers of the Lida Confucius Institute in Fuqing showed the charm of this ancient sacrificial dance with mellow and smooth movements. Yi Dance, a “ritual”, was first used to worship heaven and earth, and then gradually used to greet the moon and sing praises to ancient kings and teachers.

“Yi Dance is an important link connecting the cultural blood of compatriots on both sides of the strait.” Wang Jiyuan, Secretary-General of the Lida Confucius Institute in Fuqing and an ICH inheritor at the municipal level, introduced that it was inherited from the Dasheng Music Movement produced by Liu Xi (Fuqing), a musician of Dashengfu in Huizong period of the Northern Song Dynasty. After thousands of years of inheritance, it has included a complete system of three parts: poetry, ritual and music, in which the ritual system consists of the initial gift, the Asian gift and the final gift.

It is understood that Yi Dance was listed in the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative projects in 2021. At present, Fuzhou has established a mechanism of inheritance and protection led by the government and participated by the society, and promoted the live transmission of this ancient art through ICH on campus and public welfare performances.
