Xiamen spurs service consumption growth through coordinated measures

The Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, in collaboration with 13 other departments recently issued an implementation plan aimed at promoting the high-quality development of service consumption in Xiamen. The plan outlines 20 measures across six areas including emerging types of consumption, service consumption channels, and consumer environment. These services are intended to foster new growth points in service consumption.

Targeting personalized demand 

The third CEIE Cat Economy Industry Innovation Expo was recently held in Xiamen, featuring a variety of distinctive exhibits. This event reflects consumers' growing preference for experience-driven consumption models, with a marked shift toward personalized and customized products and services.

"In future markets, enterprises must continuously enhance service quality and operational refinement," stated an official from the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce.

The newly released implementation plan encourages industry players to explore opportunities in essential consumption sectors — including catering, accommodation, cultural entertainment, education, and training — while also stimulating demand for premium upgraded services.

Building diverse consumption scenarios 

As service consumption continues to diversify, an integrated model is emerging combining "scenario+", "industry+", "activity+", and "resource+" approaches. This trend is reshaping the consumption market landscape while fostering a deeply interconnected, cross-sector consumption ecosystem.

At the end of last year, the Xiamen Happy Mahua People's Theater opened on Zhongshan Road, a popular historic tourist street. The introduction of this renowned cultural brand and the establishment of a professional theater have not only enhanced the overall experience for both residents and visitors but also enriched the city's cultural service offerings.

Accelerating service sector standardization 

Fujian Luyinhai Chain Supermarket Co Ltd was recently selected as a pilot enterprise for China's first standardized campus supermarket chain operation initiative, becoming the only company from Fujian province included in this pilot program.

The implementation of national service standardization pilots is designed to maximize the technical support of standardization in commercial operations. It encourages market entities to innovate in standard formulation, implementation, and application while also promoting cost reduction and improved efficiency in commercial circulation.
