Open in Fuzhou on April 29! The 8th Digital China Summit Has These Highlights!

It was announced at the meeting that the 8th Digital China Summit will be held in Fuzhou, Fujian Province from April 29to April 30.

The summit was co-sponsored by the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Bureau of Data, the National Network Information Office, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Fujian Provincial People’s Government, and was undertaken by the Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government and relevant units.

The theme of this summit is “ANew Digital China Spectrum of Endeavour Road in the Twenty-five Years-Digital Wisdom Leads High-quality Development”. The summit mainly includes the opening ceremony, the main forum, about 20 sub-forums, as well as special activities such as Digital China Innovation Competition, “Minjiang Digital Night Talk” and “Blessed State Dialogue with the Future”.It is expected that more than 800 entrepreneurs, more than 100 academicians and experts, and people from all walks of life will gather at the summit.

Compared with previous years, this summit reflects the following four highlights:

Closely following the 25th anniversary of the construction of“Digital Fujian”, we will thoroughly study, publicize and explain General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important exposition on“Digital China”.

In 2000, when working in Fujian, General Secretary Xi Jinping made a major strategic deployment to build a “digital Fujian”; In 2015, at the opening ceremony of the Second World Internet Conference, the General Secretary formally proposed “Promoting the Construction of Digital China” for the first time. Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the construction of digital China is full of vitality. We will rely on the summit platform to actively explain General Secretary Xi Jinping’s innovative ideas and major practices on the construction of digital China.

Taking this summit as an opportunity, we will comprehensively blow the charge of“reform”in the data field.

The 8th Summit will focus on how to break through the difficulties in the data field, and plan all kinds of communication activities around how to further realize the marketization and value of data elements, how to further coordinate the planning and construction of digital China, digital economy and digital society, how to further enrich and make good use of the existing toolbox to bridge, pave the way and build a foundation for data supply, mobility, good use and security, and how to promote digitalization to fully empower economic and social development, so as to better serve the real economy. The summit will focus on releasing more than 10 influential policy documents and a number of typical cases, including Digital China Development Indicator System, Digital China Development Report (2024), National Data Resources Survey Report (2024), etc., which will effectively sound the charge of “reform and tackling key problems”in the construction of digital China.

Insist on letting enterprises play the leading role and hold a meeting where enterprises have a sense of gain.

This summit will set up four dialogue and exchange mechanisms, including sub-forums, digital industry ecology conferences, special conferences and theme exchange activities, and invite enterprises, universities and ministries to share the latest practices in the construction of digital China, explore the paths and strategies for the construction of digital China, and organize more than 100 important dialogue activities. The summit will provide a platform for high-level dialogue and exchange for enterprises. The proportion of corporate speeches in sub-forums is not less than 60%, and the innovation competition track will be organized and implemented by enterprises and scientific research institutions. Support and welcome enterprises to hold digital industry ecological conferences focusing on the theme. China Telecom, China Unicom, China Mobile and Huawei will hold four ecological conferences focusing on cloud ecology, industrial Internet, artificial intelligence industry and industrial digital intelligence innovation.

The summit will continue to adhere to the concept of thrift, pragmatism and high efficiency, increasingthe reuse level of venues and materials.

The Digital China Summit was successfully held in Fuzhou for seven consecutive years, which has brought far-reaching influence and positive results to Fuzhou, Fujian and even Chinese modernization.

The digital economy is developing more vigorously. The Seventh Summit promoted more than 3,000 digital economy projects with a total investment of more thanRMB1.8 trillionto land in Fujian. Among them, Fuzhou has landed nearly 800 projects with a total investment of more thanRMB700 billion, which has driven the scale of Fuzhou’s digital economy fromRMB280 billion in the first summit in 2018 to RMB 790 billion in the seventh summit in 2024, with an average annual growth rate of nearly 20%. The contribution of digital economy to Fuzhou’s economic development has also jumped from 35% to 56%, which promoted Fuzhou’seconomic growth by 6.1% last year, and the total economic output reachedRMB1.42 trillion, ranking among the top eight provincial capital cities in China. From 2017 to 2024 before the summit, the ranking among the national cities rose by 10 places.

Digital innovation is more dynamic. Taking advantage of the east wind of the Digital Summit, a series of important policies and innovation pilots in the digital field were released and implemented, including a number of national-level pilots such as the digital economy innovation and development pilot zone, digital networking, digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises, digital RMB, and intelligent networked automobile “car-road-cloud integration”. The number of national high-tech enterprises in the digital field in Fuzhou has doubled, with the number exceeding 3,200. Digital technology has also accelerated the empowerment of thousands of industries. For example, the textile industry relies on “5G+ industrial internet plus AI visual identification detection” to realize the whole production chain control and real-time quality monitoring; More and more industries and enterprises, such as green steel and automobile manufacturing, have accelerated the cultivation of new quality productivity and shared new dividends in the digital age through “intelligent, digital and network”.

Digital governance is more accurate and efficient. Fuzhou inherits and carries forward the fine style of “do it right awayand in a practical manner”, and actively promotes the work of “doing one thing efficiently”, “taking dataonce”and “non-certificate city”through digitalization, and continuously improves the efficiency of digital government services. At present, 97% of the examination and approval items have been processed online, and the reform evaluation of the examination and approval system for engineering construction projects ranks first in the country. Fuzhou has deepened the construction of “urban brain”, built a platform for comprehensive management of digital society, and innovatively created a digital twin system of urban water supply network, effectively saving water resources, improving water ecology and ensuring water safety.

Digital Summit actively promoted digital application scenarios, and promoted the application of many innovative digital scenarios such as smart medical care, smart pension, digital travel and digital ecology in Fuzhou. Digital China originated from Fuzhou, Fujian. This year coincides with the 25th anniversary of the construction of digital Fujian. Fuzhou will take the 8th Digital China Summit as a new starting point, continue to inherit and carry forward the important ideas and major practices of digital construction initiated by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his work in Fuzhou, Fujian, comprehensively promote digitalization in the whole region, empower high-quality economic and social development in all directions, and fully practice “digital benefiting the people”to better benefit the people.
