XM remains among China's best cities for garbage sorting

National authorities announced recently that Xiamen ranked among top performers for municipal-level garbage sorting, a statue the city has achieved for 19 consecutive quarters.

Xiamen's per capita daily garbage output dropped from 1.3 kilograms to 0.95 kilograms. The city's initial 400,000 sorted trash bins was minimized to 67,000 last year. The city also streamlined and merged into 4,585 centers the places where garbage is collected in urban areas, down from an initial 36,000 urban points.

Xiamen has a daily waste incineration capacity of 4,350 tons, a daily kitchen waste disposal capacity of 1,100 tons and an annual disposal capacity of 46,500 tons of hazardous garbage and industrial solid waste.
