On the occasion of the 6th 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Expo and 25th Cross-Strait Economic and Trade Fair, on May 17, the Together for Prosperity in Fuzhou: 2023 Global Investment Promotion Conference was held in the Straits Convention and Exhibition Center. Lin Baojin, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Guo Ningning, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and executive vice governor, and Chen Jian’an, vice president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Lu Dongliang, member of the Standing Committee of Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and secretary of Datong Municipal Party Committee, attended the eveny. Lan Wen, director of Fuzhou New District Management Committee, presided over the conference, and Zhang Dingfeng, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and executive deputy mayor, introduced the investment environment of Fuzhou.

At the conference, Ma Weihua, Chairman of the Enterprise Club of the China Enterprise Association and Chairman of the National Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Guidance Fund, Lin Youna, Special Adviser to the Minister of Ocean and Investment Coordination of Indonesia and Deputy Secretary-General of the China-Indonesia High-level Dialogue and Cooperation Mechanism Secretariat, Cheng Guang, President of Salim Group in China, and Zhang Lijun, Managing Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers in China, delivered speeches.

Lin said in his speech that in 1994, with the promotion of Xi Jinping, then secretary of Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee, the first “Fuzhou International Investment Promotion Month” was successfully held and became an important platform for Fuzhou to go global and the world to know about Fuzhou. After 30 years, the connotation of event has been expanded to the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road Expo and Cross-Strait Economic and Trade Fair”, which has become an important window for Fuzhou to seek exchanges and cooperation. At present, Fuzhou is adhering to the important ideas and practices initiated by President Xi, adhering to the essence of the “3820” strategic project thought and accelerating the construction as a modern international city. All of us will seize the opportunities of “Double Countries, Twin Parks”, Fuzhou metropolitan area and Fuzhou New District, integrate into the construction of “the B&R” and the domestic and international dual circulation, seize the opportunities in the reconstruction of global industrial chain and supply chain, strengthen technology, products and brands, and realize the upgrading of enterprises with high quality. Adhere to the concept of attaching importance to business, being close to business and guaranteeing business, provide good environment for investment and development, improve the service mechanism and strive to create a first-class business environment.

On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee and government, Guo Ningning sent congratulations and welcomes to the guests. She said that as an important activity of the 6th Maritime Silk Road Expo and 25th Cross-Strait Economic and Trade Fair, this conference has set up an important platform for capital and project docking, exchange and cooperation at home and abroad. We should make full use of this platform, actively expand economic and trade cooperation between countries and regions along the Maritime Silk Road, adhere to the combination of “going global” and “bringing in”, promote two-way cross-border investment and trade, build a the B&R initiative with high quality, deepen cross-strait cooperation in the fields of electronic information, petrochemical industry, modern agriculture, medical care and health care, and promote cross-strait integration and development.

Chen Jian’an said that China’s comprehensive advantages in attracting foreign investment, such as super-large-scale market, complete industrial system and so on, are constantly strengthening, and the motivation for foreign investors will be even stronger. As a strategic fulcrum city in the core area of Maritime Silk Road, Fuzhou exerts its geographical advantages of facing Taiwan Province, being adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao, and being closely connected with Southeast Asia, actively builds a modern comprehensive transportation system integrating land, sea and air, and vigorously promotes the construction of China-Indonesian economic and trade innovation and development demonstration park, with great development potential and unlimited business opportunities. The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade will build more platforms and provide better services to help industrial and commercial circles in various countries seize all kinds of opportunities.

About 1000 people attended the event, including the heads of relevant departments directly under the provincial government, four teams of the city and relevant leaders of Fuzhou New District, Indonesian, Armenian, Italian, Argentine and other foreign government officials, embassies and consulates in China officials and representatives of enterprises.
