嘉璧·派婷顿：“我是嘉璧，一名来自伦敦的体育节目主持人。如果让我给年轻的自己或年轻一代提一些建议的话，我应该会说：努力工作，同时也要享受这个过程。

花了三四年时间才走到今天这一步，而我仍未达到自己想要的高度。我目前从事报道多项体育赛事。这种多样性很好，因为它能让工作保持新鲜感和趣味性。

在这个过程中，我想说'知识就是力量'，无论你在哪个领域，提前做好充分的准备至关重要。我的建议是：从现在起努力付出，未来一切都会有所回报。”

Gabbie Partington：“I'm Gabbie and I am a sports broadcast from London, and if I have some advice to my younger self or the younger generation, I would probably say, work hard also have fun in the process. It's taken three four years to get to where I am now, I'm still not exactly where I want to be, and reporting on multiple sports. So it's good to have that variety, because it keeps things very very interesting. But in the process I'd say knowledge is power, and do as much prep and things you can ahead of a big job that you have whatever field it may be in. My advice to you would be to put in the hard work now, and then everything seems to pay off later on.”

欢迎收听微电台，成语talk show节目，我是杨莉，今天我们来给大家讲讲“闻鸡起舞”的故事。

祖逖，字士稚，范阳遒（今河北省定兴县）人。父亲祖武，任过上谷（今河北怀来县）太守。父亲去世时，祖逖还小，他的生活由几个兄长照料。祖逖的性格活泼、开朗。他好动不爱静，十四五岁了，没读进多少书。几个哥哥为此都很忧虑。但他为人豁落，讲义气，好打不平，深得邻里好评。他常常以他兄长的名义，把家里的谷米、布匹捐给受灾的贫苦农民，可实际上他的哥哥们并没有这个意思。

十八九岁时，祖逖像是突然开了窍，开始励志读书，四五年内，便已博通今古。他常到京城洛阳去，向有学问的人求教。凡是见到过他的人，都不由赞叹说：“这个人将来定是个人才！”

祖逖24岁时，担任了司州（治洛阳）主簿。主簿是主管文书簿籍的小官。他有一个同事，叫刘琨。刘琨是汉朝宗室中山靖王刘胜的后代，也是一个有志气的青年。两个人因为意气相投，成了好朋友。他们经常谈论时事，谈建功立业，报效国家，一谈就是大半夜，于是同床抵足而卧。有一天，他们也是谈得很晚，刚刚着枕，刘琨已是鼾声如雷了。祖逖正蒙眬入睡，突然听到了荒鸡（古人把三更以前鸣叫的鸡叫荒鸡。荒鸡的叫声被看作邪恶之声，是兵起之象。）的叫声。他猛然惊醒，用脚朝刘琨猛一蹬，叫醒刘琨说：“你听，你听，这不是荒鸡的叫声吗？恐怕天下要大乱了，我们还能安稳地睡觉吗？”于是取过双剑，就在庭院中舞起来。刘琨揉了揉眼，想了想，说：“对！应该居安思危！”也去取了双剑，和祖逖对舞起来。因此，每天公鸡鸣叫时，他们都会起身练习剑术，剑的冷钢闪闪发光。日复一日，年复一年，他们从未停止过。俗话说，不断努力就能取得成功。经过长期的努力学习和训练，他们终于成为精通民政和军事事务的多才多艺的人。他们能写出好文章，并有能力带领军队战胜敌人。他被冠以“保卫西部地区将军”的头衔，从而实现了他为国家服务的立功的愿望。刘琨就任州长，同时负责丙州，冀州和右州三个州的军事事务。在履行职责时，刘琨还充分发挥了他在礼貌和武术方面的才华。他们终于成为能文能武的全才。

“闻鸡起舞”这一千古佳话，后比喻有志者抓紧时间学习和锻炼的奋发精神，其实，它也含有珍惜光阴之意。

Hello everyone, this is we radio, idiom talk show. I am Yang Li . The name of the story I will tell you today is: rising with the rooster to practice sword play.

Zu Ti of the Jin Dynasty（265-420）was a big-hearted and farsighted person whom when he was a small child, however, was very naughty and did not like to study. When he became a young man, he felt acutely that his knowledge was inadequate and that he could not serve his country well if he did not study hard. So he put all his energies into his studies. He read extensively, seriously studied history from which he absorbed rich knowledge, and made good progress in his studies. He had been to the capital city Luoyang several times and all the people who had come into contact with him said that Zu Ti was a talented person who was capable of assisting the emperor in governing the country. When he was 24, someone recommended hem to be an official, but he refused the post. He was still making a sustained effort in his studies. Later, both Zu Ti and Liu Kun, his close friend since early childhood, were appointed chief clerks responsible for document administration in the Si zhou Prefecture. he and Liu Kun cherished a deep affection for each other. They not only often shared the same bed whilst sleeping, but also shared the same lofty ideals; to render meritorious service in rejuvenating the Jin Dynasty and play the part of the pillars of the state.

Once, Zu Ti heard a cock crow in the wasteland in his dream at midnight. He kicked Liu Kun awake, saying to him:"People say it is inauspicious to hear a cock crow in the wasteland. I don‘t think this is so. What about getting up and practicing sword play the moment we hear the cock crow from now on?" Liu Kun agreed readily. So every day when the cock crowed, they got up and practiced sword play, the cold steel of the swords glinting and flashing. Day by day and year in, year out, they never stopped. As the saying goes, constant effort yields sure success. Through long periods of hard study and training, they finally became versatile persons versed in both civil and military affairs. They could write good essays, and were capable of leading troops in fighting victoriously Ti was invested with the title the General for Guarding the Western Regions, thus realizing his wish of rendering meritorious service to the country. Liu Kun became a governor, and at same time was in charge of the military affairs of the three prefectures of Bing zhou, Ji zhou and You zhou. In discharging his duties, Liu Kun also fully displayed his talent in both polite letters and martial arts.

This story appears in "The Life of Zu Ti" in The History of the Jin Dynasty. From this story people have coined the set phrase "rising with the rooster to practice sword play" to signify that someone is exerting himself to do something worthwhile. It is also used to signify that a person of noble aspirations exerts himself early.
