Zhongjing Petrochemical High-Performance Polypropylene Project with An Annual Output of 1.5 Million Tons Was Successfully Delivered

On the morning of December 30, the handover ceremony was held for Zhongjing Petrochemical high-performance polypropylene project with a maximum annual output of 1.5 million tons, which marked the completion of the installation and acceptance, and successfully transferred to the commissioning preparation stage before production, laying a solid foundation for the official start-up and production next year.

Zhongjing Petrochemical has an annual output of 1.5 million tons of high-performance polypropylene, with a total investment of RMB 3.8 billion and an annual output value of RMB 15 billion, which drives the output value of upstream and downstream industrial chains to RMB 30 billion. It is the largest single-set high-performance polypropylene plant in the world today.

The project began to be installed in June 2023, and the engineering quantity has created a number of similar devices “the best in the world”-the largest scale, the largest engineering quantity and the smallest floor space. At the same time, the project is advanced in technology and diversified in products. It adopts completely domestic self-owned technology “vertical kettle slurry polymerization and horizontal kettle gas phase polymerization combined process technology”, and has three production lines to produce homopolymer or random copolymer polypropylene powder.

At present, the second phase of Zhongjing Petrochemical Science and Technology Industrial Park, which includes the propane dehydrogenation to propylene project with an annual output of 1 million tons and the high-performance polypropylene project with an annual output of 1.5 million tons, is undergoing pipeline pressure test and purging, and is expected to be put into production in March 2025. By then, Zhongjing Petrochemical will become the world’s largest propane dehydrogenation enterprise with an annual output of 3.8 million tons and the largest single-plant enterprise with an annual output of 4 million tons of polypropylene.
